How do you stop sheet piles from leaking?

Steel sheet piles are made of hot-rolled steel with locks or jaws. Single steel sheet piles are connected to each other to form a steel sheet pile wall, which is used to retain water and soil in foundation pit projects.

When the foundation pit depth is more than 5m in soft soil areas, the tie-down method must be used. Cantilever piles can only be used below 5m. When constructing steel sheet piles, install purlins first, then drive the steel sheet piles into the soil in pieces to build a closed structure. Make a circle and then dig the soil in the circle.

The phenomenon of steel sheet pile leakage
Halfway through the excavation of the foundation pit, it was discovered that the steel sheet piles at the joints and corners were leaking.

Causes of steel sheet pile leakage
1. There are many old steel sheet piles, which have not been corrected or repaired before use or have not been thoroughly inspected. The locks do not bite well, causing the joints to leak easily. In order to achieve closed closing at the corner, there should be a special type of corner pile. This kind of corner pile needs to go through the cutting and welding process and may be deformed;
2. When installing steel sheet piles, the locks of the two sheet piles may not be tightly connected and do not meet the requirements;
3. The verticality of the pile does not meet the requirements, causing water leakage at the lock.

How do you stop sheet piles from leaking?
1. Old steel sheet piles need to be repaired and corrected before being driven. Correction should be carried out on the platform, and bending and deformation of steel sheet piles can be corrected by means of hydraulic jack pressure or fire baking;
2. Prepare purlin supports to ensure that the steel sheet piles are driven vertically and the wall surface of the steel sheet piles is straight after being driven;
3. To prevent the centerline displacement of the steel sheet pile lock, a clamping plate can be installed at the steel sheet pile lock in the direction of piling to prevent the steel sheet pile from shifting;
4. In order to ensure that the steel sheet piles are vertical, two theodolites are used to control hammering into the soil from two directions;
5. Since the steel sheet pile is tilted when driven and there is a gap in the lock joint, it is difficult to close it. The first solution is to use special-shaped sheet piles (this method is more difficult); the second is to use the axis sealing method, which is more convenient;
6. If water seepage is found, use water glass cement slurry and double-liquid grouting of the valve and pipe to plug the leak.

Classification of steel sheet piles
1. Classify according to shape
Steel sheet piles can be divided into U-shaped steel sheet piles, Z-shaped steel sheet piles, shaped steel sheet piles and right-angle steel sheet piles according to their cross-sectional shapes.
2. Classification according to construction methods
Steel sheet piles can be divided into two types: vibration pile sinking and static pressure piles according to their different construction methods.
3. Classify according to material
Steel sheet piles can be divided into two types: cold-formed thin-walled steel sheet piles and hot-rolled steel sheet piles according to their different materials.
4. Classify according to usage
Steel sheet piles can be divided into temporary support steel sheet piles and permanent steel sheet piles according to their different uses.
