Solutions for ERW pipe deburring

Common problems of ERW pipe during the internal burr removal process include eccentricity, depth, shallowness, etc. These will affect the quality of weld inspection and reduce the yield of welded pipes. In particular, the internal burrs are scraped very deep, the wall thickness of the weld does not meet the requirements, and the load-bearing capacity here is insufficient. In severe cases, the welded pipe may burst. The burr removal methods for ERW welded pipes are generally divided into two types: online and offline. The online cleaning method is to use the inner burr trimming blade on the inner burr trolley on the drawbar to remove the burrs by using the relative movement of the cutter.

1. Internal burr scraping
When the internal burrs are scraped too far, steps will appear on the inner wall of the welded pipe at the weld, and the online flaw detection of the weld will alarm, affecting the welding quality of the welded pipe. The reason for the internal burrs is that the internal burrs on the tie rod are scraped from the internal burrs on the trolley. The center line of the blade does not coincide with the center line of the burr in the welded pipe, causing deviation. Through inspection of the welded pipe opening, it can be found that there are obvious scratches on the removed internal burrs. The internal burr blade scratched the substrate. Check the position of the tow-bar, adjust the position of the tow-bar, and ensure that the mechanical connection of the tow-bar is good to ensure that the tow-bar does not shake during work, which will affect the quality of the internal burrs. It is also necessary to check whether the inner burr trolley on the tow-bar is placed in the correct working position and whether the blade screws on the inner burr trolley are loose.

2. Deep scraping of inner burrs
When the inner burrs are scraped deep, the wall thickness of the weld cannot meet the requirements, resulting in insufficient pressure-bearing capacity. In severe cases, the pipe may explode.

Through physical burr inspection, it was found that the inner burr was too deep and part of the substrate was scraped off. When the inner burr blade is working, its working height is higher than the inner wall of the welded pipe. If the height of the inner burr blade does not meet the requirements, it will cause the inner burr to be scraped deeply or shallowly. At this time, the working height of the inner burr blade needs to be adjusted to ensure that its height is within the standard range Scope. Also, check the fasteners on the inner burr trolley to make sure they are installed tightly to avoid loosening during work.

3. Light repair of internal burrs
When the inner burrs are shallow, they will cause the inner burrs to protrude, seriously hindering the transportation of oil and gas. In addition, internal burrs will seriously affect the inspection quality of the weld. The fastening screw of the burr blade ensures that it will not deviate from the correct working position due to uneven force during work. It is necessary to check the fixed seat of the drawbar to ensure that the drawbar will not loosen. During the process of scraping the internal burrs, the drawbar will not deviate from the correct working position. The rod is not in the correct working position due to stress.

When the internal burrs are shallow, they need to be removed offline by an internal deburring device because they cannot be removed online. After the offline internal burr removal is completed, offline inspection is required to ensure the quality of the weld. In addition, if the offline inspection fails, further manual inspection of the weld is required to ensure the quality of the weld and avoid unqualified welded pipes due to unqualified weld quality.

When removing internal burrs from ERW welded pipes, there are mainly problems such as offset, deep scraping, and shallow scraping. Each problem will affect the welding quality of the welded pipe. Therefore, during the production process of welded pipes, attention should be paid to removing internal burrs to ensure their removal. Subsequent internal burrs comply with standards.
