The function of stainless steel flange

Stainless steel flange is a ring-shaped component used for pipeline connections, usually made of stainless steel material. Large diameter stainless steel flanges specifically refer to flange products with larger diameters, which play an important role in the industrial field. The stainless steel material endows the flange with excellent corrosion resistance and durability, enabling it to adapt to various harsh working environments.

The flange is connected by bolts to achieve the assembly and disassembly of the pipeline system, which ensures the firmness of the connection and is easy to maintain and repair. Large diameter flanges are typically used in pipeline systems for transporting large amounts of fluids or gases, and their size and pressure bearing capacity are larger and stronger than ordinary flanges.

In terms of usage, stainless steel flanges have a wide range of applications, mainly including the following aspects:

1. Petrochemical industry: In the processes of petroleum extraction and chemical product production, pipelines often transport corrosive media such as acids, alkalis, organic solvents, etc. Stainless steel flanges can resist chemical corrosion, prevent medium leakage, and ensure production safety. In high temperature and high pressure environments, stainless steel materials can maintain high mechanical strength and will not significantly deform or fail due to temperature changes.

2. Food and pharmaceutical industries: These industries have extremely high hygiene requirements, diverse pipeline systems that are easy to clean, corrosion-resistant, and do not produce pollution. The surface of the stainless steel flange is smooth, not prone to impurities, and can meet hygiene standards through cleaning or sterilization treatment. Stainless steel material is non-toxic and odorless, and will not affect the quality of food or medicine.

3. Water supply and sewage treatment: In urban water supply systems and sewage treatment facilities, pipelines need to withstand long-term erosion from water and other liquids. Stainless steel flanges are corrosion-resistant, have a long service life, and can reduce maintenance frequency and replacement costs. Its reliable sealing performance can prevent water waste and environmental pollution.

4. Energy and power industry: In scenarios such as thermal power generation and nuclear energy facilities, pipeline systems often withstand high temperatures and pressures. Stainless steel flanges can adapt to harsh working conditions, maintain structural stability and sealing, and avoid energy leaks or equipment failures.

5. Ship and Ocean Engineering: High salt air and seawater in marine environments have strong corrosiveness. Stainless steel flanges are commonly used in ship pipeline systems and offshore platform facilities due to their excellent corrosion resistance, which extends the service life of equipment and improves safety.

The selection of stainless steel flanges needs to consider multiple factors, such as working pressure, temperature, medium characteristics, and installation environment. Common stainless steel materials include models 304, 316, etc. Among them, 316 stainless steel has stronger corrosion resistance due to its molybdenum content, making it particularly suitable for harsh environments. The standards and specifications of flanges are also very important. Commonly used international standards include ANSI, DIN, JIS, etc. Users need to choose flange products that meet the standards according to their actual needs.
