Black carbon steel pipe

What is black carbon steel?
Black carbon steel refers to steel with a higher carbon content, usually above 1.0%.Blackening treatment is a kind of surface oxidation treatment of steel. Its main applicable steel types are carbon steel and low alloy steel. Blackening treatment is to put the workpiece into a very concentrated alkali and oxidant solution and heat it (heating temperature is about 140°C, holding for 1-2 hours), so that a dense Fe304 film is formed on the surface of the steel.

The iron oxide film can isolate the air and prevent the interior of the steel from being oxidized to achieve corrosion resistance. Due to differences in operation and the chemical composition of the metal itself, the colors of this film include black, blue-black, tan, etc.

Uses of black carbon steel pipes
Black carbon steel is often used for gas or water line piping because it is low cost and can be welded using common methods. Some long-distance oil pipelines use black carbon steel pipes(like black mild steel pipe) because the pipes can be connected on site and will not rust quickly. This steel may be used in climate or ground conditions that may accelerate corrosion, but may require additional protection such as anodes. The anode is an embedded rod made of zinc that corrodes first when attached to the steel pipe.

Classification of black pipes
1. Seamless black pipe
Seamless black carbon steel pipe is produced by perforating solid steel billets into a hollow cylindrical shape. Since there are no welds, they are stronger and suitable for high-pressure applications.

2. Welded black carbon steel pipe
Welded black carbon steel pipe is a cylindrical shape formed by bending and welding steel plates or steel strips. They are a cost-effective alternative to seamless pipes and are commonly used in a variety of industrial and structural applications.

Advantages of black carbon steel pipe
1. Corrosion resistance
Because there is an oxide film on the surface of black carbon steel pipes, it has better corrosion resistance.
2. Beautiful appearance
The color of the steel pipe is black with light, the surface color of the steel pipe is highly uniform, consistent and beautiful in appearance.
3. Wide range of uses
Black carbon steel is a steel with a high carbon content, usually between 0.3% and 2.0%. Due to its high carbon content, black carbon steel has high hardness and strength, as well as good toughness and ductility. This makes black carbon steel widely used in water and gas transmission, construction and machinery industries.

The difference between black carbon steel pipe and ordinary carbon steel pipe
Carbon steel pipes are made of steel ingots or solid round steel perforated into capillary tubes, which are then hot rolled, cold rolled or cold drawn. Carbon steel pipes play an important role in my country's steel pipe industry.
1. Anti-corrosion
Black carbon steel pipes have better corrosion resistance due to the black oxide film on their surfaces. At normal temperatures, carbon steel pipes have relatively poor corrosion resistance and are easily corroded by some chemical substances, such as oxides, acids, salts, etc. Surface treatment of carbon steel pipes is one of the important measures to improve its corrosion resistance. Commonly used surface treatment methods include electroplating, galvanizing, spraying, sandblasting, etc.

2. Price
Because black carbon steel pipes have a black surface treatment, their cost is higher than ordinary carbon steel pipes.
