Galvanized quare and rectangle tube

1.What is galvanized square & rectangle tube?

Galvanized square pipe is a square-section steel pipe with hot-rolled or cold-rolled galvanized strip or galvanized coil as blank. It is formed by cold bending and then high-frequency welded.
Square & rectangle tube is a type of Hollow Structural Sections (HSS).The term HSS refers to high-strength welded steel tubing used as structural elements in buildings and other structures and a variety of manufactured products. ASTM A500, A1085, and A1065 are common specifications for square & rectangle tube.

2.The role of galvanized square tubing

The base body of the galvanized square rectangular pipe and the molten weld metal directly form a corrosion-resistant structural tight layer. The existence of this structural tight layer can effectively prevent intergranular corrosion of the molten weld metal (near the welding heat-affected zone). Therefore, it has good resistance to atmospheric corrosion and good resistance to high-temperature oxidation; at the same time, due to the protective effect of the galvanized layer, the surface of the component has a very smooth, dense and strong protective film, which greatly improves the adhesion of the coating; in addition, it also has Moisture-proof and anti-corrosion properties.

3. Rectangular/ Square hollow section manufacturing process

(1)Material preparation

High-quality low-carbon steel coils are used as raw materials and cut into square tube blanks of appropriate sizes according to specifications.

(2)Cleaning treatment

The box steel tubing blank is sent to the cleaning tank for pickling treatment to remove grease, oxides and other impurities on the surface to ensure that the surface is clean.

(3) Molding

After compression by the forming machine, the raw material is turned into a more regular square profile with straight side walls and seamless welding.

(4)Hot-dip galvanizing

The square tube is placed in a hot-dip galvanizing bath and undergoes a series of chemical reactions to form a uniform zinc layer. The production process of hot-dip galvanized square tubes is relatively simple and has high production efficiency, which is suitable for the production of small galvanized square tube manufacturers.

(5) Cold galvanizing

The principle of cold galvanizing is used to make the square pipe anti-corrosion. Unlike hot-dip galvanizing, cold-dip galvanizing coatings mainly perform anti-corrosion through electrochemical principles, so the surface treatment of steel is very important.

4.Uses of galvanized square and rectangular pipes

(1)Construction field

Galvanized box steel tubings are used for the support and frame of building structures, such as beams, columns, roof trusses, doors, windows, stairs, ceilings, walls, etc. It is also used in curtain wall engineering and the manufacture of machinery and equipment.

(2)Bridges and roads field

Galvanized square and rectangular tubes are used to construct guardrails and side railings to ensure the safety of pedestrians and vehicles. It is also used in the construction of bridges and roads.

(3) Weak current engineering and communication facilities fields

Galvanized square and rectangular pipes are used for wiring ducts and telecommunications line supports. They have good electrical conductivity and are durable.

(4)Industrial field

Galvanized metal square tubes are used to transport gases, liquids and other substances, such as oil pipelines, compressed air pipelines, etc. It is also used in the petroleum industry, chemical coking equipment, etc.

(5)Agricultural field

Galvanized square and rectangular pipes are used as pipes in water conservancy projects, such as agricultural irrigation systems. It is also used in steel frame greenhouses, fruit and vegetable sheds, etc.

(6)Other fields

In addition, galvanized square tubings are also used for home decoration, door and window frames and other decorative purposes, with good decorative effects and corrosion resistance.
