Steel casing pipe VS. tubing

Both tubing and steel casing pipe are essential in oil exploration. Oil pipes are pipes that pass into the oil well steel casing pipe during normal production of an oil well. In a blowout well, oil flows through tubing to the surface and into the collection and transportation process. In a mechanical production well, oil pipes, sucker rods and deep well pumps (i.e. "three pumping units" equipment) are combined to pump the oil to the surface and enter the collection and transportation process.

Classification of oil pipes:
1. No thickening of oil pipe (NU)
2. Externally thickened oil pipe (EU)
3. Integral joint oil pipe (IJ)

Special oil pipes are mainly used for drilling oil and gas wells and transporting oil and gas. It includes an oil drilling pipe, a steel casing pipe and an oil pumping pipe. Oil drill pipe is mainly used to connect drill collars and drill bits and transmit drilling power. Steel casing pipe is mainly used to support the well wall during the drilling process and after well completion to ensure the drilling process and the normal operation of the entire oil well after completion. The pumping pipe mainly transports oil and gas from the bottom of the oil well to the surface.

Steel casing pipe is the lifeline to maintain the operation of oil wells. Due to different geological conditions and complex stress conditions, downhole, tension, compression, bending and torsion stresses act comprehensively on the pipe body, which places higher requirements on the quality of the steel casing pipe itself. Once the steel casing pipe is damaged for some reason, the entire well may be reduced in production or even scrapped. The steel casing pipe is a pipe that enters the well after drilling. The steel casing pipe and the well wall are sealed with cement, and then a perforating gun is used to perforate the target layer to allow the oil to flow through the rock formation and cement sheath. The steel casing pipe is then inserted into the bottom of the well, and then the oil pipe is inserted into the ground.

Different types of steel casing pipe are used in the oil extraction process:
1. Surface steel casing pipe: protects drilling wells from contamination by shallow water and gas layers, supports wellhead equipment and maintains the weight of other layers of steel casing pipe. Technical steel casing pipe: Separate the pressure at different levels to facilitate the normal circulation of drilling fluid and protect the production steel casing pipe. Install anti-burst devices, anti-leak devices and tail pipes in the drilling well. Reservoir steel casing pipe: conducts oil and natural gas from reservoirs beneath the earth's surface. Used to protect drilling wells and layer drilling mud. When producing a steel casing pipe, the outer diameter usually ranges from 114.3 mm to 508 mm.

The main functions of the steel casing pipe are:
1. Reinforce the well wall to prevent formation collapse;
2. Separate oil layers and water layers at different heights to achieve layered mining;
3. Promote the implementation and maintenance of fracturing, acidification and other measures.
4. Form an oil flow channel and cooperate with the oil pipe to achieve the purpose of oil return.

The sequence is: after laying the oil well, the steel casing pipe starts to run, the steel casing pipe and the well wall are sealed with cement, and the oil pipe is extended into the steel casing pipe. There are downhole tools such as oil packers and pumps on the pipeline, and the sucker rod is inserted into the oil pipe, and the sucker rod pulls the piston of the pump.
