ERW refers to electric resistance welded. Electric resistance welding (ERW) is a method used to join pieces of metal together using electrical resistance and heat. In this process, the metal pieces to be welded are placed end to end and clamped together.According to different materials, erw tubes can be divided into stainless steel, carbon steel or alloy steel pipes and pipe fittings.

The vast majority of long-distance natural gas pipelines use three forms: straight seam high-frequency welded pipe (ERW), spiral submerged arc welded pipe (SSAW), and straight seam submerged arc welded pipe (LSAW). Straight seam high-frequency welded pipe (ERW) is divided into two forms: induction welding and contact welding according to different welding methods. It uses hot-rolled wide steel coils as raw materials and undergoes pre-bending, continuous forming, welding, heat treatment, sizing, straightening, Cutting and other processes, compared with spiral welded pipes, have the advantages of shorter welds, high dimensional accuracy, uniform wall thickness, good surface quality, and high pressure resistance. However, the disadvantage is that it can only produce small and medium-diameter thin-walled pipes, and gray spots are easily produced at the welds. , unfused, groove-shaped corrosion defects. At present, the most widely used fields are city gas, crude oil and refined oil transportation, etc.

2.Advantages and disadvantages of ms erw pipe

Advantags:
(1)Higher hardness
ms erw pipe can obtain higher hardness and better wear resistance after heat treatment. Its hardness in the annealed state is very moderate and it has good cutting processability.
(2) Low production cost
The raw materials of carbon steel are very common, easy to obtain, and the production cost is relatively low.
(3) High dimensional accuracy
ERW steel pipes have higher dimensional accuracy than seamless pipes. This is because seamless pipes (SML pipes) are formed by continuous perforation of round steel in a hot rolling unit, while ERW steel pipes are formed by steel strips in a cold-rolled state. In contrast, ERW is easier to control than SML in terms of appearance size.

Disadvantages:
(1)Easily corroded
Compared with stainless steel pipes, low carbon steel pipes are more susceptible to corrosion, and carbon steel parts are generally spray-painted. Compared with seamless pipes, ERW pipes have welds and are more likely to leak conveyed substances.

(2) Unstable quality
ERW steel pipes are prone to problems such as weld carbon segregation, slag inclusion, and unstable pipe production quality.
